Established in 2007, the Surprise Running Club is a FREE private running club in Surprise, Arizona with 500+ members. The goal of SRC is to encourage & inspire runners & walkers of all ages & abilities. SRC is NOT competitive… it is simply about Fitness, Friends, and Fun… F3!
WHAT IS COACH KEITH’S STORY?
Coach Keith is the founder and manager of SRC. He is a USA Track & Field Certified Coach, 3X XTERRA Trail Running World Champion, World Duathlon Bronze Medalist, 3X Western States 100 Mile finisher, 15X Ironman finisher (including Kona 6X via the KonaFive & Epic5 ultra-triathlons), and former NCAA nationally ranked distance runner. In addition, he is the author of the book Optimized Runner. Most importantly, he loves to encourage and inspire everyone to reap the positive life-transforming benefits of running.
First, our members have a “We Not Me” attitude… they are focused on encouraging & inspiring others more than their own personal benefit. Second, we have runners & walkers of all ages & abilities… therefore, no matter what your running ability level is, you will fit in comfortably… we have 4 ability levels for you to choose from (Woggers, Joggers, Runners, or Speedsters).

WHAT IS THE RUN WORKOUT AGENDA?
6:00 pm – Check In for Guests 6:15 pm – Welcome Message, Warm Up, Stretching, Announcements 6:30 pm – Workout – We divide into 4 ability levels (Woggers 13 min/mile, Joggers 11 min/mile, Runners 9 min/mile, Speedsters 7:10 pm – Plyometrics & Sprints 7:20 pm – Club Spirit Award & Club Cheer 7:30 pm – You have the option of socializing with us at Panera Bread (13959 West Bell Road) after practice. Panera Bread gives a free cookie to anyone wearing SRC clothing!
DOES SRC MEET OUTSIDE REGULAR SCHEDULED WORKOUTS?
Yes! Many SRC members meet for informal workouts, trail runs, hikes, etc. In addition, SRC has several volunteer and running events we participate in each season. Once you have become a member, check the SRC Facebook Group for the latest events & posts.
Active Members are expected to volunteer for at least 2 shifts per season. To sign up for a shift, see our SRC Facebook Group Events for more details and to RSVP.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN SRC?
Free. However, we do require all our members to follow our “5 Membership Guidelines” (see below) and have a “We Not Me” attitude.
HOW DO I JOIN SRC AS A VIRTUAL MEMBER?
Use our Contact Form (at the bottom of this page) to let Coach Keith know you would like to be added to our private Facebook Group. In turn, Coach Keith will email you an invitation.
HOW DO I JOIN SRC AS AN ACTIVE MEMBER?
1. Attend any Run/Stair/Trail Workout 2. Check in with Coach Keith and sign our Liability Waiver 3. In turn, Coach Keith will introduce you to our Captains and members
HOW DO I EARN A CLUB SPIRIT AWARD?
Simply fulfill the following “5 Membership Guidelines” on a REGULAR basis:
1. Be Kind – Welcome new members, encourage others, give lots of high fives, etc. 2. Show Up – Attend workouts, show up on time, stay until the end, and fully participate 3. Volunteer – Volunteer for at least two shifts per season at any of our volunteer events 4. Wear It – Wear your SRC shirt to all SRC workouts & events and all running events you participate in 5. Post It – Post on our Facebook Wall at least once per week (fitness related only, no excuses, no solicitations)
Coach Keith awards our Club Spirit Award (recognition & prizes) to one member per week at the end of each Run Workout.
If you are unable to fulfill our 5 Membership Guidelines (or engaging in behavior that is unkind, negative, or disrespectful to Coach Keith and/or SRC and its members), your membership may be revoked.
HOW DO I BECOME AN SRC CAPTAIN?
First, earn a Club Spirit Award (see above). Second, commit to following our “5 Membership Guidelines” on a REGULAR basis. Third, let Coach Keith know you would like to become a Captain. In turn, Coach Keith will give you a specific assignment and share details on the role of being an SRC Captain.
HOW DO I PURCHASE SRC CLOTHING or GET A FREE SRC BUMPER STICKER?
Simply ask Coach Keith for one at the end of each workout. SRC does not profit from our clothing sales (we sell at our cost). SRC simply wants to provide you with great looking & functional clothing and to help you promote SRC to our community and our “We Not Me” club spirit.
Since our primary goal is to encourage others, we would prefer you run without headphones so you can hear everyone cheering you on. In addition, we want you to hear the groovy tunes our DJ’s play over our boom box : )
CAN I SOLICIT SRC SPONSORS or MEMBERS?
No. Out of respect for SRC Sponsors (SRC does not want to promote their competitors and SRC does not want to ask them for more than they have already sponsored) and out of respect for SRC Members (SRC does not want to inundate them with promotions) and out of respect for Coach Keith (he does not want to be the judge of what is or is not a worthy cause), please do not proactively promote your business, organization, event, or personal causes to SRC members or sponsors.

If you (or your children) choose to participate, you waive any and all claims against the Surprise Running Club, Coach Keith, and any associated partners or sponsors. SRC advises you (and your children) to consult with your/their doctor and ensure he/she agrees that participation in the Surprise Running Club is appropriate for your/their current state of health.
